Aspirations to this music video

The key aspiration at the core to our music video was to follow the tradition of Adele and the conventions used by an Adele music video (of which there aren't all that many). Those key ideas and conventions which provided aspirations for this video focussed around the emotion of the singer and the importance of a strong performance-narrative mix to convey the story behind the song lyrics whilst also providing an enjoyable performance. The narrative we knew had to be highly emotional and at the start of the song, the narrative had to be on a negative side to the singer in the video where everything is against her as most Adele songs are. Then later in the song, rather than sticking to true Adele narrative throughout, we decided to go for the contradiction. That actually, the singer in this video is fighting back and is a strong willed character which we believe stands out nicely by the use of similar shots but lasting longer to convey the true outcome. The performance stood out to be one thing - having watched other Adele music videos and videos from similar genres - it had to be full of power. Which as a word on it's own is very general, but to us it meant three things - emotion, movement and mouth - these three aspects were all very active in the other videos we had watched and compared to.
